Fatal Car Accidents in Columbus, Ohio

The specific information about each of these tragic accidents is as follows:

On 9/24/20 at approximately 11:05 PM, Mark Eyer, 60, of Johnstown, OH was traveling northbound on N. Hamilton Rd., approaching the roundabout at Old Hamilton Rd. on a 2018 Harley Davidson Ultra Glide. Mr. Eyer failed to negotiate the curve into the roundabout, striking a curb and a yield sign. Mr. Eyer was ejected from the motorcycle and both he and the motorcycle came to rest in the grass at the center of the roundabout. Mr. Eyer was transported to Mount Carmel East Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 11:44 PM.

On 09/23/2020, at approximately 7:42 P.M., a motor vehicle crash occurred near the intersection of Cleveland Ave & Bonham Ave in the city limits of Columbus, Ohio. A 2002 GMC Yukon, driven by Mr. Mackanthony White, was traveling northbound on Cleveland Ave. At the same time, a 2015 Dodge Charger, driven by Mr. John Doe, was traveling southbound on Cleveland Ave. For reasons still under investigation, a head-on collision occurred near the intersection of Bonham Ave. John Doe driver of the Dodge Charger was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The driver of the GMC Yukon was transported to OhioHealth Grant Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

On Saturday, September 19, 2020 at 3:07 AM, Mr. Ollie Morris (49) was driving southbound on Courtright Rd., north of Groves Rd. His front seat passenger was Mr. John Doe. At this time, Ms. Lakisha Williams (29) was driving northbound on Courtright Rd., north of Groves Rd. Mr. Morris’ car crossed left of the center line and struck Ms. Williams’ car head-on. Mr. Morris and Mr. Doe were taken to Mt. Carmel East Hospital where Mr. Morris was treated for minor injuries and Mr. Doe was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. Ms. Williams was taken to Grant Medical Center where she was admitted in serious, but non-life-threatening condition.

On Friday, September 18, 2020 at approximately 5:21 AM, Ms. Misty Ducey (39) of Evergreen Rd., was alone in a Hyundai Accent driving eastbound on Watkins Rd., just west of Nuway Rd. Ms. Ducey’s car crossed the center line and left Watkins Rd. on the north side. The car struck a wooden utility pole. Officers and EMS arrived and spoke with Ms. Ducey, who was disoriented but showed no visible signs of injury. Medics transported Ms. Ducey to Grant Medical Center as a precaution. The crash scene was cleared.

On Monday, September 14, 2020 at approximately 8:39 PM, Ms. Brittaney Fulton (29) of S. Hague Ave. in Columbus, was walking northbound across W. Broad St. at N. Eureka Ave. in the cross walk while the east and west bound traffic had a green traffic light. At the same time a dark colored SUV was westbound on W. Broad St. and struck Ms. Fulton. The dark colored SUV then fled the scene. CFD Medic 17 responded and transported Ms. Fulton to Ohio Health Grant Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 12:25 AM.

On 9/13/20 at approximately 1:19 AM, Malcolm McGuire, 30, of Canal Winchester, OH was traveling eastbound on I 70 in a 2006 Acura TL, in the third lane from the left when he was struck from behind by a 2002 Suzuki GSX ridden by John Doe. Mr. Doe was ejected from the motorcycle and landed in the roadway. Truro Township Medic 162 arrived shortly after the crash and pronounced Mr. Doe dead at 1:32 AM

On Friday, September 11, 2020 at approximately 8:42 PM, Mr. Denis Neidler (63) of Rosslyn Ave. in Columbus, was walking across N. High St. south of Rosslyn Ave. not in a marked cross walk. At the same time Sheri Brethel (60) of Springhill Dr. in Columbus, was operating a 2017 Subaru Outback southbound on N. High St. As Mr. Neidler crossed over the southbound lanes of N. High St. Ms. Brethel struck him. CFD Medic 19 responded and transported Mr. Neidler to Riverside Methodist Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 9:12PM.

On September 11th, 2020 a single motor vehicle crash occurred in front of 2845 Parsons Av. For reasons yet to be determined, the operator traveling southbound on Parsons Av. lost control of his 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche and slid off the roadway on the west side of Parsons Av., striking a tree and coming to rest into the residence of 2845 Parsons Av. The operator sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by Columbus Fire Medic 19.

On September 3rd, 2020, Tiffany Nelson, 44 years old from Pickerington, was operating her 2008 Mazda 3 eastbound on Shannon Rd. just west of Fitzpatrick Blvd. At the same time Brian Pierce, 53 of Columbus, was operating his 2018 GMC pickup truck westbound on Shannon Rd. just west of Fitzpatrick Blvd. For reasons yet to be determined, Ms. Nelson lost control of her vehicle and slid into Mr. Pierce’s path. The two vehicles collided. Ms. Nelson sustained serious injuries and was subsequently transported to Mt. Carmel East Hospital by Columbus Fire Medic 32. She was treated by Dr. Gora. Ms Nelson did not survive her injuries and was pronounced dead at 8:42 am. 

Construction Update

  • Mann Road between Havens Road and Havens Corners Road – Replace Concrete Slab Culvert. September 8, 2020 for approximately 45 Days, weather permitting. There are posted detours.
  • The Intersection of Reynoldsburg-New Albany Road and Clark State Road will continue to be Closed for Roundabout Construction for approximately 75 Days from August 3, 2020, weather permitting.
  • A Bridge Replacement on Ridpath Road 0.65 Miles south of Zuber Road will close the street for 45 days from July 13, 2020 for – weather permitting
  • Northbound I71 South of Downtown is under construction, with restrictions expected through early October.
  • I270 near Urbancrest is under construction in both directions and expected to remain under construction until November 27th, 2020.
  • I670 near Bexley is under construction in both directions and is expected to remain under. Construction until September 30th, 2020.
